Land
 Takes One Life in Ibusa
Security-Nigeria - Uche Okonji, 23, resident of
Umudafe quarters in Ibusa, Oshimili North Local Government of
Delta

State
lost his life recently when murderers arrived the family house and ordered him
to surrender the proceeds of a land deal to them or be killed. The victim was
shot dead right in the presence of his father, a musician. The incident shook
the community to its origin as no fewer than four houses were burnt to ashes.
Emmanuel Okonji, alias Agility, the father of the victim, however exonerated his
son from the said land deal proceed. He explained that his son, Uche, was killed
because he threatened to expose those involved in the illegal sale of community
land.
Following the death of the youth, some of his friends who identified the
killers, retaliated by setting their houses ablaze. Properties worth millions of
naira were destroyed by the irate youths who protested the horrible killing of
their colleague.
Apart from Okonji's case, there are other land matters in
Delta

State
that have become source of worry not only to the government but also to
innocent people who mostly become victims of clashes.
